I like it very much!

Too bad the offense can't support him to save their asses. Granted it was against Verlander today but still

Pedro was only 26 when he got to the Red Sox? I would have thought he was older than that.

i like where this is going.

Me too.

The Indians have logged the 3rd most innings against Chris Sale and his ERA against them sits at pedestrian 4.07 -- nearly 1.1 ERs over his career average.

Anything can happen, but given the above and Price's remarkable postseason history, I like the Indians' chances in a potential playoff rematch.

Terrible comparison... Fenway is not built for lefty pitchers... Right now Sale is pitching great, his SO rate is back up...

But I wouldn't trust a lefty in fenway...

thats what happens when you see a guy 10 times a year in your division. the sox have owned them some elite AL east pitchers too.

I realize that's probably hyperbole, but with only 16 starts against CLE in six seasons as a starter, Sale is a far cry from facing the Tribe "10 times a year."

Regardless, my point stands. Given Sale's 100+ innings of average performance against the Indians, and Price's garbage playoff numbers, should the Indians be fortunate enough to make the playoffs again, the Red Sox have the elite rotation that I'd most want the Indians to face.

It's a good start, but it's far to small a sample too come to any conclusions.
Let's be clear though, I'll be shocked if Sale comes close to Pedro's success, PM had an all time great run in his final 2 years in Montreal and his time in Boston before the injuries.

I don't blame you.

The look on Price's face when Chiz put the stones to him in the 2nd inning after he'd set the Tribe down in order in the 1st was... well... priceless. Were I not an Indians fan, I'd have felt badly for the guy.

single greatest pitcher i have ever seen. his peak seasons wont be matched again IMO. you went to watch pedro. you tuned into NESN to watch pedro. the other guys were just ancillary on pedro days.

does lester say hi?? compare him to the better righty seasons... you would be surprised how mediocre lester was for most of his red sox career... He really only had one ACE season...

and Bruce Hurst?? is that a joke... he only had one season with an ERA better than 3.5, yes it was a 2.99... But that was only one season, and that season he didn't even reach 200 innings

2008-2011 Lester averaged 200+ innings/yr with a 3.33 ERA (135 ERA+). Those consistently strong -- if not dominant -- years represented more than half of his time in Boston.

Saying that he was "mediocre for most of his Red Sox career" is retarded. It's not full blown, round eyed drooling fucking retarded, but retarded nonetheless.

it was an exaggeration... but to say he was an ace for his red sox career is even more wrong... I know you are a big ERA+ fan... but here is the thing, I am using the stadium to show why a lefty is not very successful there...

only having one season below a 3.2 ERA and one season below a 1.2 WHIP, that is just not lights out... and both of those happened in 2014 when he had 21 games as a red sox pitcher before being traded to Oakland...

When you pitch a large portion of your games in the AL East your ERA is going to be higher than the average across baseball. Just the way it is.

No one said he was an ace for his whole Red Sox career. In fact, no one said anything close to that. You just said he was mediocre for most of it, which is retarded.

So his only ace season with the Sox was 143 innings he gave them in 2014? Are you feeling OK today?

If you interviewed the 30 front offices and asked them they'd get 200+ innings of 135 ERA+ ball out of their ace for the next four years, how many of those teams do you think would not sign up for that?
