College Gameday Week 1

Is going to Arlington, Texas for FSU vs Okla St. Horrible decision. FSU is gonna beat the crap outta OSU (unfortunately.) LSU/Wisc was the easy choice. Best game of the day.

It definitely was. That was probably the only factor. But since when did Gameday start going to the reigning champs first game? I can only remember one time in the last decade. Bama beat LSU in the 2011-2012 season, then Gameday was in Arlington for Bama vs #8 Michigan next season.

It is really not that close of a race.
FSU/OSU features two higher ranked teams from last season, a better venue, and Heisman interest.

Maybe last year. But OSU isnt projected to be very good this year. Maybe a top 40 team. Lost too much. Just 4 starters returning on defense. 5 on offense. The back 7 on defense is completely inexperienced.

There's a reason why FSU is an 18-point favorited. That spread may grow by game time too.

among others... They should realize that other schools would LOVE and DIE to host gameday. Bring in something new...


Every years there's at least 2 or 3 games with teams that are top 25 but end up being blowouts. Why not go to a game that is more evenly matched? For example, Gameday went to Auburn for the Iron Bowl in 2011... everybody knew Bama was gonna beat an offensively disturbed 7-4 Auburn team. But its the Iron Bowl, lets just go to it.


I'd like to see other venues besides the bluebloods every year. Hell, they might get a school to sellout a home game JUST because Gameday is there. Might even detect a Heisman contender...ya never know if you don't try.

I agree with that. It is kind of funny to say, but I think people just assume OSU will be in the hunt for the Big 12. I can not think of a bigger compliment to say to Gundy. LSU/Wisky is a far better match-up.

They went to FCS last year once.

Actually they went to Fargo, North Dakota to see North Dakota St. take on another FCS opponent so gameday did two FCS games last year.

I think its more of a continuation of/homage to last season in that they start with the Champs for the opener. Personally I'd rather see LSU/Wiscy, but this isn't a slouch of a match-up.

They also went to Seattle for the first Husky CGD appearance.

They deserved it and had a phenomenal showing. Likely they were there to see Oregon as they have a love affair with the Ducks. But upon leaving the crew vowed they will be back.

Perhaps Stanford @ UW early in the year. Both likely top 15 teams and undefeated.

Stanford has a challenge in USC week 2. UW doesn't have a serious threat for a loss up to this game.

It's the defending champs, it's a nice inter-conference matchup at a somewhat neutral site, and as pennstatenut said, this might be the only competitive game FSU plays this season outside of Clemson + Miami.

If it is not at your school why care though? The pop is nothing tangible unless it is at your school imo. I do not get all the whining about being at the FSU game versus the LSU game. OR vice versa. If they want to go to Death Valley instead of Dallas it is no skin off my back. It is a show and nothing more. Only reason they are going to Dallas is because that is the 1st game to be played there this year AND it is where the last game will be played. It has nothing to do with FSU or OSU. It is about the CFB Playoff.
