Gausman is still a little young to step into such a high pressure role. O'Day would be good, Hunter throws hard for SO's but gives up some HRs, Matusz I'm not sure he's lefty/lefty mostly. Too bad they could'nt even get there today as Tillman wasn't sharp at all when they needed a big outing.

My write-in vote would be "closer by committee":

1. If you need two innings, use Hunter. In case there are too many lefties coming up, use Matusz for the inning with more lefties and Hunter for the inning with more righties.
2. For 1-inning saves, use O'Day vs. right and Matusz vs. left.

only thing is over the last month patton has been out best lhp out of the pen . rather have o'day over hunter

nope buck wouldn't do jj like that . he may put him back to set up for a little

Stick with Johnson.

Johnson has 6 blown saves, but the Orioles as a team have 17 blown saves. Don't see any better alternatives on the current roster.

We don't have the shutdown bullpen that we had last year. Adair has to keep working with what we've got now. Also, is it my imagination or is Wieters now looking to John Russell for pitch calls more than he has in the past? Maybe I'm just reaching, but I think Wieters was calling most pitches last year...and I like those results better.

matt is getting throw overs from bench . always has so more base runners more look overs . with all the shifts we do he maybe getting the calls from the bench but a 3-2 curve to dunn was stupid whoever called it .

...and that's exactly why I suggested "closer by committee" as an option. After all, if you don't have a dominant reliever who's clearly better than anyone else, it would make more sense to spread out the risk by diversifying (i.e. use a combination of Hunter, O'Day, Matusz, and Patton depending on match-ups).
