Have you guys seen Kershaw's ERA difference before the 7th inning and after. It's absolutely mind boggling. They showed it on Sportsnet last night. Mid 3's through the 6th and jumps to 21.34 (I think that was the number, pretty close if not) from the 7th on.
As for the BP having to clean up runners on base, that's what good relievers are paid to do. A starter leaves the game with a 5-3 lead has done his job.

I will admit at the time Kershaw had some bad postseasons but still one of the best regular season pitchers of all-time BUT @HammerDown knows how to fuck up a wet dream. s are almost worthless in my opinion - The fact is the Dodgers prepared themselves for the Cubs and the Cubs didn't prepare themselves for the Dodgers - I think they under-estimated the Dodgers - which I many of us did

I remember hearing Eric Karros, of all people, calling his shot before the playoffs and saying that he thought only the Dodgers - of any team in the playoffs - could match up favorably against the Cubs. He had some good points too, not just "herp, derp, Kershaw and Hill are good mmmkay." I was driving so I don't remember it word for word or point for point, but he was basically talking about LA's super flexible roster, deep bullpen, and also that the Cubs don't possess a murderers row of lefty pitching (as we all know to be kryptonite for this team) make the matchup one that the Dodgers have a chance of winning. Of course acknowledging the fact that the Dodgers are still the underdogs - just maybe positioned better than the other teams.
