"he hasnt been in his league in years...unless you count the last 2"

"as long as you ignore the fact that Scherzer worked 13% more than Sale did, they were identical"

You should change your name to Rock Caveat.

its ok to admit you were wrong. us adults do it all the time.

sale and scherzer "were in the same league" the last 2 seasons prior to this one.

im just happy you didnt resort to "but 2017 is year(s) ago". thanks for that.

Give me a fucking break. It's nonsense.

no, why would you think I'm trolling?

WHIP is a more valuable metric than ERA.

A pitchers ability to limit base runners is more important than his ability to limit runs?

This board has some real characters

Three weeks ago you told us that Sale was going to be the starting pitcher in the all star game.

I'm sure you have admitted you were wrong.

i literally used the last 2 full seasons. how, may i ask, is that cherry picking, when its in reply to "sale hasnt been in scherzers league for years lolz" [sic]?

im open to anyone else helping on this, because its confusing...to a guy who works in metrics for a living.

he was on pace to do just that, and i posted articles to that effect. he was on fire.

april 23 to june 15th:

11 starts
72.1 IP
44 hits
18 ER
16 walks
116 k's
2.24 ERA
.171 BAA

he was arguably the best pitcher in baseball over that time frame. then he shit his pants recently. he didnt get selected. i was wrong.

"you're right rock"

Are they comparable in 2019? No.
Were they comparable in 2018? No.
Were they comparable in 2017? No.
Were they comparable in 2016? No.
Were they comparable in 2015? No.
Are they comparable over the last two seasons? No.
Are they comparable over the last three seasons? No.
Are they comparable over the last four seasons? No.
Are they comparable over the last five seasons? No.

But don't say they haven't been comparable for years because if you look at only last year and the year before, they're comparable provided you ignore the fact that Scherzer worked 13% more than Sale did.

Homersayswhat?

The metrics aren't the problem, per usual it's your interpretation of them.
interpretation of what? a metric is a metric. if its put into a context, sure. but there wasnt. it was literally chris sales last 2 full seasons vs scherzers. they were nearly identical sans scherzer throwing more innings over 5 more starts (i added that for you).

it happens.
