Yeah, if they didn't do it while he was alive, they'd probably feel like pricks electing him now

He's had too many kicks at it too, I suspect that creates a bit of a "ugh, how many times have we rejected this guy already?" vibe.

Wow, I never knew Minnie Minoso was good. I just remember they brought him in as a pinch hitter in 1980 so he could play in 5 decades. He was in his 50s at the time

Was Wu-Tang's new album any good? I liked the lead single that you showed me, but I never checked the album out- been busy mourning Eminem's "Revival" + Kevin Gates being in prison.

It's not bad. Not all of the members are all that prominently featured, there's a lot of Meth on the album. But there's a lot of good stuff, solid guest contributions by Sean Price and Chris Rivers. It was probably a little disappointing, but I liked it.

before edgar, he was considered the best DH of all time.

Which doesn't mean much, because back then teams either rotated a number of guys at DH or stuck guys past their primes there. Baines was one of the only guys at that time who was in his prime and was a 'DH specialist.'

Look at the early '90s for instance, where much of teams' DH position was occupied by players 35+ or players who played 80 games at another position and 50 games at DH.

How many great seasons did he have? We're talking about a guy who never finished better than 9th in MVP voting and never finished top 5 in most major categories.

He's got 1600 RBI but only 2x managed to finished top 10 in the league, so that just tells you his numbers are largely a function of playing for a long time instead of 'dominance.'

He was just a pretty good hitter who played for a long time.

DH's never won or were considered highly for MVP in his time.

Largely because most guys who spent time at DHs were past their primes or part-time DHs who played other positions.

Paul Molitor finished 2nd in MVP voting in 1993 as a DH, so I'm not buying that excuse....
