Why would Frost be their 1st choice if they have a shot at Kelly?

Who knows. Less baggage? No NCAA infractions. Just going by what was reported as solid info 2-3 weeks ago.

3 weeks ago Frost was their #1 target. They fired McElwain to get first dibs on him. Florida >>> ALL because they fired their coach mid season. Everybody else letting their coaches finish the season would be sucking wind.

Who could forget that?

isnt frost a sexton client too.....thought that was an issue too

I think they're being harder on Sexton than they should be. Active coaches who really give a shit about their team don't have time to negotiate and review contracts during the season.
All Sexton can do is take your info and let said candidate know who's interested when he becomes available.
I understand Florida not wanting to take the risk on waiting for Frost who could very well go to Nebraska.

Well it did help them put their name in the Chip Kelly sweepstakes.

It has yet to pay any dividends. They're still without a coach over 3 weeks later. Going on a month next week.

Yep, and also Muschamp's agent.

Florida was literally firing one of his clients 3 years ago while hiring another.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Chip Kelly is leaning toward accepting the open head-coaching position at UCLA.

There have been an avalanche of various reports regarding Kelly and his future job plans in the last 12 hours. ESPN's Mark Schlabach reported early on Wednesday morning that Kelly had met with UCLA officials on Tuesday and would be deciding between Florida and the Bruins in the coming days. He reportedly met with Florida officials on Sunday. While two outlets reported earlier on Wednesday that Kelly-to-UCLA was a done deal, one of those reports (by 247Sports) has subsequently been pulled and there has been no official word from the Bruins as to a hiring. CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd is reporting that a decision one way or another is likely by Sunday. At this juncture, Kelly is not expected to take a job outside of either UCLA or Florida, though USA Today hears that Arizona State might be enticing if the Sun Devils opt to move on from Todd Graham.

Florida just fired the back-to-back SEC East Champion Head Coach. I know it wasn't exciting to watch, and nor was it against stiff competition in the East, but I wouldn't be shocked if that thought didn't cross the mind of every candidate you interview.

Florida is currently ranked in every collegiate sport we play but 3. Football is one of those 3. Our disorganized and poorly managed football team is a fucking disgrace to the southeast's top public university.

I think he should take the UCLA job. He knows the PAC 12, the region regarding recruiting, and I think that would be a better fit. Besides, when he was at Oregon, we recruited from California.

I didn't say the firing is deserving, just odd given the circumstances.

I am shocked that McElwain didn't work out.
