Peach Bowl: (1) LSU vs. (4) Oklahoma
Fiesta Bowl: (2) Ohio State vs. (3) Clemson
Cotton Bowl: Georgia vs. Cincy
Orange Bowl: Florida vs. Va Tech
Rose Bowl: Utah vs. Penn State
Sugar Bowl: Alabama vs. Baylor
Reminder of the Tie-Ins
Rose: BigTen vs. PAC-12
Sugar: SEC vs. BigXII
Orange: ACC vs. BigTen OR SEC OR Notre Dame
Cotton: no tie-in
Every year the G5 team is forced to go to the Peach, Fiesta, or Cotton. Since the Peach and Fiesta are the semifinals, that means they are going to the Cotton.
What happened this week:
Oregon was the only contending team to lose this week. They are no longer projected to go to a NY6 game.
The biggest beneficiary of Oregon's loss is...
OKLAHOMA. Despite their loss to KSU, they are now in the driver's seat to win out and secure the 4 seed.
Oklahoma making the field means another BigXII team is headed to the Sugar Bowl. At this point, the most likely team is Baylor, even with another loss to OU.
Alabama got a bit of help with Oregon losing, but still needs another loss by OU AND Utah to have a realistic chance at making the field of 4.
The ACC continues to look like utter garbage after Clemson, but someone in the ACC will have to be selected to the Orange Bowl, even if none are ranked. At this point, I suspect the 2nd place team from the Coastal division will get the nod, as the 1st place team will likely be waxed by Clemson, giving them yet another loss. As of now, I project a 9-4 VaTech team to be selected.
As always, feel free to comment on the above projections, or better yet...post your own.
