Well I was starting to think what kind of car I wanted, but I was hoping to squeeze a few more years out of my 1996 Lexus Es300. Well that plan went up in smoke when I rear ended the guy in front of me. There's no reason to try to repair it because its pretty fucked up and its a pretty old car, radiator is pushed in 2-3 feet at least and the car was smoking when I pulled it off the road.

Long story short, I need to get a new car. I was just looking for some suggestions. I was planning on putting around 5k down, and I am going for a year or two used. I prefer mid sized sedans, but am willing to look at other choices.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking about a Ford fusion. We have a 2007 AWD one at work and its a pretty nice drive and has a nice interior.

I'm thinking 25k max

Go look at optima's. I know Kia's have a stigma attached to them but they have came a long way in the past 6-7 years.

FWIW we have a fusion as an office car and my wife has an optima, imo the optima is a lot better car.

Fly to a place where there are seasonal, old people and no salt used on the roads. Then buy a nice German car with low miles for just over $20k. You can probably get an S series Benz or the like with under 50k miles. In that price range, I'd buy a Lincoln MKS about 3 years old with 30k or so miles. Great car.

Ford Fusion....Here's a 2010

2010_ford_fusion_10.jpg

Great car.... The wife has a 2010, 2.0 four banger with 48,000 miles and it has been the best car we have owned to date. The others included a Volvo V40(wrecked) and a Subraru Outback (junk, sold for scrap).

The only issue I have found with the car is that the fold down sun visor won't maintain its adjustment at times. I guess I could install an after market visor, but its her car. Other than this minor issue the car has been great. I don't think you can go wrong with the Fusion.

I'm thinking about getting a 2010 VW Passat but I test drove a 2008 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro today. The turbocharged 4 cylinders are pretty good on gas and power.

Might want to take in consideration maintenance costs, or even worse repair costs.
Some of the high end imports and domestic vehicles are very expensive to fix.
And they all need fixing sooner or later....no matter where they're made.
