Season series: The San Jose Sharks shut out the Montreal Canadiens twice in 2013-14, the most recent a 4-0 victory at SAP Center on March 8, 2014. Sharks center Logan Couture had three goals and five points, and goalie Antti Niemimade 49 saves in the two shutouts.

Canadiens team scope: Montreal goalie Carey Price was named the NHL’s Second Star for the month of February after going 9-1-1 with a 1.34 goals-against average, .949 save percentage and two shutouts in 11 appearances. The Canadiens begin a four-game West Coast trip Monday after a 4-0 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Price made 30 saves for his sixth shutout of the season, the 31st of his NHL career. He leads the League in wins (36), GAA (1.88) and save percentage (.936) and has won 10 straight road games. Forward Brendan Gallagher had two assists Saturday to extend his point streak to five games (four goals, four assists). Montreal has won four games in a row and is 12-for-12 on the penalty kill in its past five.

Sharks team scope: San Jose traded forward James Sheppard to the New York Rangers on Sunday for a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. Sheppard, who can become an unrestricted free agent July 1, had five goals and 16 points in 57 games this season. The Sharks held a players-only meeting Sunday following a 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senatorson Saturday. It was San Jose’s third loss in a row and eighth straight at home (0-6-2). "Through tumultuous times you're looking for that," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "It goes back to the leadership. We're looking for that. Who's pulling the group together?" The Sharks trail the Minnesota Wild by five points for the second wild-card spot for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Western Conference, with the Wild having a game in hand. Niemi is 2-6-1 in his past nine starts and has allowed three or more goals in six of those games.

Teal (Finn), you're a glutton for punishment. Somehow, I think you rather enjoy this.

As a fellow citizen of the Raider Nation, you know the importance of sticking around during the lean years.
lol

And believe me, I'm not enjoying anything about this season.

This WIL all be worth it if DWIL is out on his can on April 12th. Just say "No to the Playoffs".

2-0 lead looks pretty good but not getting too optimistic yet since they've developed a bad habit of playing poorly in the 3rd and giving up late goals.

Good job Pavelski! 32 goals this year!

So, Wilson said he traded Sheppard so Hertl could get more time at his natural center position. But it's Smith, who's a natural RW that can also play center, centering the 3rd line and Hertl is still on the wing. Sometimes all you can do is shake your head.

A season of questionable decisions indeed. Gotta shore up the D corps.
Not built for the playoffs at all.

I'm glad to see a win today but a 4-0 thumping of the Habs feels really good.
The new guy had a good game. Good sign.

They dismantled the Canadiens...yeah, but where was this for the last 8 home games? Classic Sharks. Dilly dally around for a month and then lay a beat down on one of the leagues best. Tonight in Vancouver, back to laissez faire?

Also, it was hilarious to listen to Baker use his bag of excuses on the Canadiens. It must be the travel, no it is the time zone changes, the weather, they are not used to the weather. No Jamie, they got their asses outworked.

I'd prefer Marty McSorely at this point.
