Can we draft Waynes now

Now that Pot Roast in on board we have an opportunity to fix the Cb problem. I would be banging the table for a shut down Cb in Waynes at #5. You can cut both Hall and Porter. Sign one of the 49ers CB's and have a good threesome of Cb's. Even if Amerson fails again this year it wouldn't matter. Why does everyone on this board want to rely on hall and Amerson? Doesn't make sense to me.

foolish proclamations like saying we all want to rely on amerson and hall so lets get waynes or we are doomed to crappy CB play

we dont know how FA is going to play out . we have brought in one CB and have another one scheduled we could sign 1 or both or even none

but to proclaim we are satisfied with both hall and amerson is a foolish proclamation

i am not willing to say waynes is a top 5 pick yet .

we may not be able to address CB this year in a more permanent way , perhaps it will be next season , maybe we take shelton because right now pot roast is a one year stop gap and this is the year to get d/lineman and db's arent that strong in this draft

We have a shot at getting a elite CB. It puts us in great shape now and in the future if you draft Waynes. Even if we sign Culliver in FA you still draft Waynes b/c you cant rely on Hall, POrter, and Amerson. Why would you take that risk? No one on this board is talking about the Cb problem. Here is an easy solution to solve that problem.

perhaps he is elite , perhaps he isnt i see MSU football a lot being a mere 40 miles from lansing but a few weeks ago you werent talking about this problem at CB and were hyping shelton . perhaps in a few weeks we address cb in a way that makes waynes not such of a need

I was always talking about Cb being a need. I thought NT was a bigger need and Im very happy we signed Pot Roast. IF we lost Pot Roast I wanted Shelton if we got Pot Roast I wanted Wayne.

First, let's all agree that Hall is no longer a viable nor reliable answer at corner. Thoughts of playing him in the slot as I insisted upon a season ago, now makes no sense as that window too, has closed. Any thought of playing him at safety must be tempered with the realization that age, size and probable loss of a step or two will be factors in his making the roster. I see him as a return guy if he's capable or camp body.

Anybody paying attention??????? Amerson WILL NOT be the weaker of last years corners, period. Second year players tend to take a step back, before settling into career roles beginning their 3rd season. The corner that will struggle this season will be Breeland, therefore adding a corner or two is a necessary step. I'm not so sure that drafting one to start right away is realistic.

i completely agree sty. why the hell are people completely writing off amerson, hes only played like two seasons. i hope we get culliver but i still think amerson will be good.

Amerson was benched one game last year b/c of team issues. He did not show me anything last year. Amerson has not made an impact like Breeland has on this team. Sure, anything can happen but passing up a chance to get an elite CB b/c we are waiting for AMerson to develop is risky business. The Cb's could be Breeland, Culver, Waynes, and Amerson. That is very good depth in case of injuries or poor performances.

I can certainly see Dean's argument. Me? I'm still hoping for one of the edge rushers. Fowler is my first choice but I don't think he'll be here.

If its going to be an edge rusher the safest guy is Beasley if Fowler is gone. I still like Waynes even after the Culliver signing. I don't trust AMerson at all.

i'm cool with Fowler, Shelton or Waynes. Pot Roast, and Amerson will be gone next year, that would give Shelton or Waynes a chance to ease into the league and get in to NFL shape. Fowler or an OT would be the only one with immediate pressure to perform.

...Honestly, with the secondary we have now, I'm expecting another 3-6 wins max.
Everyone in our division has gotten much much better EXCEPT us.

without getting two 1st round picks from the browns, you can hang this season up early

Actually Amerson has another year on his rookie contract after this one. Because of Amerson we probably wont draft Waynes which stinks in my opinion. If Pot Roast plays well, I believe he will be here next year. If Fowler is gone the pick would probably be Beasley.

amerson may not work out at CB . but at FS he could be something . he has size range and cb coverage skills
