Apparently we forfeit about 90% of the money we would have received from the Big 12 this year. My question is: If the Southern Schools leave are they going to have to pay a buyout penalty? And if they do leave, would we still have to pay the buyout penalty?

I would suspect that if it goes down to 5 members- there would be no Big XII thus nobody to pay the penalty too.....

However...... 100% of 20million in 2011.... vs 10% of 9 million in 2010.......

We actually come out a lil ahead in the next two years....

I don't think we have been guaranteed a whole distribution immediately. The only thing I have been able to find is we are guaranteed we will not be paid less than we would receive from the B12.

The penalties though from what I understand is 90% or 80% for one year notice (I have read both) and 50% for both years if giving 2 years as Colorado did so it really makes since to get it over with and leave sooner. We get 10% this year and 100% of whatever our agreement with the B10 is next year compared to Colorado losing 50% both years and then probably having to take a partial share the first years in the PAC10. I think Pearlman was much smarter.

As for what we get from the Big 10 I have read that we will receive at least what we would from the Big 12 and none of the other teams will receive less than they would without the admission of Nebraska. Where that ends up in $$? We'll see.

Thanks fellas, I guess Texas' ace in the hole is the fact that their butt budies will follow them wherever they go. So if they leave=No Big 12=No fines.

Take NU to court for judgement...

Let me rephrase that. NU would have to take the Big XII to court wouldn't they?

Its not us giving them money. Its them only giving us that % share that year.

Based on what I have read since friday I know TO does not think we should have any penalty. Would the U sue over it?

I wonder if the reason Colorado did things the way they did is so they could afford to Get rid of two pieces of very dead weight Bohn and Hawkins. I think Bohns contract is up this year and Hawkins in a year or two and they could afford to buy him off after this season.
