I will explain this for dumb ass Doors: Minnesota has had better coaches then Rambis and still failed - that's because they make bad decision after bad decision. All of the best coaching in the world isn't going to help them and all of the best coaching in the world isn't going to save the Lakers from the lottery at this point. Hiring Rambis would be 20 game interview to see if he is compatible with the new ownership in place and the ideals they have set. Clearly D'antoni isn't because the Lakers have always been about much better coaching this the piece of crap named D'antoni. Rambis coaching would be to see if he has evolved enough since his first time as head coach for the Lakers and Minnesota to take the helm at the Lakers. Sometimes it's not about the x's and o's or the wins and losses. Sometimes or this time it would be about having the opportunity to interview a coach that's better then D'antoni and in this case I am a ABD PERSON. ANYBODY BUT DANTONI

Have you not watched any games or read anything I've posted. Kobe and Gasol were NOT asked "step up the pace of their speed". D'Antoni's offense is NOT "7 seconds or less". It's "move it or shoot it". It's basketball 101. One of the first things you learn about organized basketball. The ball moves faster than the man.

The only thing Kobe and Pau were asked to do differently is not stop the ball and go iso as much as they were used to. They were asked to shoot if the shots there or pass it if it isn't. In D'Antoni's offense, Pau and Kobe have the chance for less wear and tear because they aren't running iso's and having to spend a lot of time and energy trying to beat their defender off the dribble or back him down in the post.

And how exactly does a coach "set up plays that were high risk for injury"?

It can be done - one way is putting players up to step into the lane and set your feet so that the charging foul goes in your favor. There are little ways in the style of the game that simply makes it riskier for the players. Phil Jackson went through that one year and acknowledged this and changed the set up to avoid injuries

:L So now teaching players to take a charge (which is one the first things you learn on defense) is setting up plays for high risk of injury?!?

Are you a comedy writer for some television sitcom?

It is common knowledged that lesser talented players are asked to take charges so they can get charging fouls in their favor. This was an example. I am sorry if you don't have enough knowledge to know that plays can be set up to avoid injuries when possible, but that is also common knowledge. This Lakers team was not set up with players capable of being physical - none of them were strong enough or smart enough to begin with.
