lastnight the m's put a 5 spot on lester in 5 innings . i remember everyone on brittons case for giving up 6 runs vs the m's . yes britton could suck today but looking back at the last 3 games all 3 have starters have struggled . let's get the rangers zach . last 10 games we are 5-5 the way we have hit the last 10 games i'm shocked . i do look for zach to be optioned and pitch sunday for the tides . his 10 days would be up before we would need him again . that will give buck time to plan how to bring him up and give guys extra days and if zach keeps going he may finally put either hammel or feldman in the pen they are the weakest links and highest paid .

Im willing to bet anything the only way Hammel sees the pen this year is if he is coming back from a injury. No way Buck puts him in there...its just Buck. it's how he does. He just sticks with his guys. Especially after giving up the 1 run to the Yankees. He probably praised him for it.

As for Britton I pray he shuts down the Rangers tonight for himself and the team. His stuff has improved he just seems to hit a wall after the 6th. Would love to see him crack the rotation and stay there for the rest of the year...only if he deserves it.

if britton isn't the best option i don't want him in the rotation !!! i'm tired of buck's and hammels act . i can see why after buck is fired teams win the world series .

Here's a unconventional strategy for Buck to try if he would ever consider it...

So we all know that part of the problem with this team's rotation is that not many starters could survive the 6th inning consistently. The question, then, is finding a way for the bullpen to pick up 4 innings consistently without getting overworked. In theory, this is possible if you're willing to sacrifice some flexibility for L/R match-ups, extra innings, and blowouts by putting the *entire* pitching staff into rotations:

* Group A: Five starters would pitch for 5 innings each every five games.
* Group B: Three relievers would pitch for 2 innings each every three games.
* Group C: Four other relievers would pitch for 1 inning each every two games.

Note that the bullpen could be used in any order; the point is simply that 4 innings would be covered by a 3-man team in a typical game (one from Group B, and two from Group C). Here are a few possible examples:

1. What Buck might actually do in a game:
Starter (Innings 1-5) / McFarland (6-7) / O'Day (8) / Johnson (9)

2. A possible improvement over #1:
Starter (1-5) / Gausman (6-7) / Matusz (8) / O'Day (9)

3. A possibility with a two-inning save:
Starter (1-5) / Patton (6) / Johnson (7) / Hunter (8-9)
