Earlier tonight doobs brought up a good point.with the rumors of St Louis potentially letting Marty why not sign him and send kinkaid down. The team is struggling attendance us a mess. Marty is on the verge if 700 wins and could make a retirement run. It could be financially beneficial to the team in a lot of ways and give the fans something to enjoy and take away from this season. Another milestone and seeing Marty retire where he belongs. Any thoughts in bringing him back?

I believe Marty and the Devils are one & the same, really makes no sense for him to play anywhere else but New Jersey. Although I root for him on the Blues, it's painful to watch him in a jersey other than the Devils', and I'm not even a Devils fan. It would be like Mario coming back and playing for a team other than the Penguins.

He will always be the face if the franchise and milestones and retirement sells tickets and pits people in the seats. Especially when it's the greatest goalie of all time. Roy had a lot of success in Colorado and his reasoning for leaving was a lot different. Kind if ironic with the history that developed between the Avs and Detroit being as it was the game he got hammered by Detroit that chased him from Montreal. But it still didn't feel right seeing him retire with Colorado. Marty deserves to retire in red white and black

:agree:

No goalie has meant more to a single franchise than what Marty means to the Devils. It's a travesty to have him play for anyone else.

Calgary is still kicking themselves in the ass for passing on him for kidd. I remember Marty's first game you had a feel he was something special.

Yeah, took them to game 7 of the Prince of Wales Conference (now the Eastern Conference) Finals where they lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion New York Rangers in overtime. Next year he won the Cup.

Just as long as his brother inlaw hides his wife

:pound:

Imagine how awkward it must be for the Dubois family household when Marty stops by to visit. Bet you he makes it a point to show up for Christmas & Thanksgiving just to make things awkward :pound:
