Why would you fire him during a two game winning streak? It looked to me like Braun had turned it around and Gomez had just come off the DL.

Ron Roenicke was finally released by Milwaukee.

Was he fired, or did they "mutually agree to part ways"?

The Brewers have been abysmal over the past 100 games dating to last season. He was a dead man walking.

He was told to hand in his uniform and I'm sure it wasn't just for dry cleaning.

No surprise to see this, Milwaukee hasn't been playing up to snuff at all thus far.

He wanted nothing to do with this series against the Cards.

Brewers are 27th in runs scored this year, after finishing 15th last year. Clearly time to change managers.

Melvin was and is the biggest problem. Roenicke only amplified the problem. They both need to hit the road.

This team does NOT play fundamentally solid baseball on a consistent basis. We need a manager who stresses the fundamentals, not a manager who FAR too often placates the players. Roenicke was about as big of an "ALONG FOR THE RIDE MANAGER" as they come.

Far too many lineup changes! Clueless especially so towards end of last season on how to manage the bullpen. Start the rebuilding now!

Mentioned this on another thread...Counsell has a family connection with the Seligs, I worked with a cousin of his and they both knew Bud personally and socialized with his family. No surprise to me at all that Craig ended his career with the Brews and went to work in their front office.
Counsell's cousin shared the common opinion that he was a very smart man for a baseball player.

Counsell has played for a world series winner and is extremely competitive and a baseball junkie. I expect him to stress fundamentals more than the previous manager did.

Congrats to my boy Craig Counsell!
The Brewers waited too long to make this move. Roenicke should have been fired after the end of last season.

It looks like Counsel has some rapport with the players that has carried over from his playing days. The pitching has been solid and the bullpen great. If the bats wake up the Brewers can begin the long climb back to .500 baseball. Players are saying they're excited.
