Former Hawkeye football player Brett Greenwood remains in a medically induced coma, according to his high school football coach.
Former Pleasant Valley football coach Ed Morrissey visited Greenwood and his family at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Wednesday night and reported the news.
“It’s just a waiting game right now,” Morrissey said.
Greenwood, a former Iowa safety, collapsed Friday during a workout at Pleasant Valley and was given CPR on the scene.
He was transported to Iowa City where he was put into the medically induced coma.
Morrissey said doctors have begun trying to take Greenwood out of the coma. He also reported that Greenwood was responding to pinching and coughing on his own.
