Not that I'm going that route, but you're wrong. The more teams a conference has, the most likely the top 6 of the teams are going to be better. If a conference has 30 teams, then their top 6 is far more likely, on average, to be better than the top 6 teams of an 8 team conference. A 14-12 spread doesn't make much difference, but you're not being honest if you say it had nothing to do with it.

I thought the lil' numbers after the conference actually referred to that Bowl Game's turn in the pecking order to select a team, not necessarily the team's actual rank within the conference.

Does anyboy really think there is much difference between Wisconsin and South Carolina, or Oklahoma State and Missouri? Those look like two perfect matchups to me. You could have switched them up and it STILL would look pretty good.

But honestly, do we really need to bitch and moan about which teams go where? Bowls are a mixture of teams with nothing left to prove and teams who are excited to be playing anywhere after November 30th. Who knows what you're going to get. Just enjoy the games.

Those numbers after the conference for bowl games isn't the rank in the conference. It's their place in the pecking order of when they get to take a team.

For instance, the Capital One: Big 10 #3 VS SEC #4. They get to choose from the Big 10 third and the SEC fourth. If this was all set by ranks in conference, teams wouldn't be allowed to get past over and there wouldn't be a selection committee for each bowl game. They would all be tied to whatever teams were ranked in the conference whether they liked it or not.
