of active QBs, here are the records for most INT thrown in a season (Mannings own the top 4, Eli on pace for most ever)...

Current Record for Most INT in a season by an active QB
28 - Peyton Manning
26 - Jay Culter
25t - Peyton Manning
25t - Eli Manning
24t - Ben Roethlisberger
24t - Ryan Fitzpatrick
22 - Josh Freeman

Eli was #1 in the NFL in INTs in 2007 (20) and 2010 (25) and is currently #1 in the NFL with 15 INT thru 6 games, and has thrown at least one INT in each of his 6 games, and 3 or more INT in 4 of his 6 games (he has thrown 3 or more picks in 2/3 of his games)

At this rate (2.5 INT per game), Eli is on pace for 40 INTs, which would beat the single season record of 35 by Hall of Fame QB George Blanda

If Eli can manage to get his 2.5 INT per game avg down to just a 1 INT per game avg over his last ten games, he will still tie his record for 3rd most picks in a season by an active QB (behind Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler)

Take a look at the statistical comparison between the two brothers thus far this season. Wow. Big brother is clobbering him in pretty much every area. I cannot imagine a bigger gap in most of these areas.

Seems to me by looking at those stats the big brother has better receivers. :noidea:

Eli is playing the same as he always has, just, he isn't connecting on those low percentile passes that he has in the past. Never thought Eli was a great QB, but hey, I'm a Cowboys fan. :)

Why do you think that is happening?

That much better? Eli still has Cruz & Nicks which is not too bad. Also - lesser receivers shouldn't result in 15 INTs after only 6 games.

i agree that those two are above average WR's but they are not playing that way this year, just like Ray Rice is an above average RB but he isn't playing that well either. It happens.

OK. I can see where they could be having subpar years & are contributing to the problem. However - I just don't buy the fact that they are the entire issue. A lot of this falls on Manning himself. Just heard analysis on him on ESPN radio, and they were stating that he was making numerous flaws that I assume are not simply based on the mistakes of his teammates.

they aren't the entire issue, sometime Eli will just make a bad throw, like his first pick last night. I'm not saying Eli is without fault but to place the entire blame on him is not cool

There are a number of factors that help explain Eli's terrible year.

1. He's not that good. Yeah, he's had some nice seasons, but let's face it, he's too inconsistent to actually be considered great.

2. Bad luck. Against the Broncos, he threw a pass that the defender knocked down, but instead of hitting the ground, it was kicked up into the air after hitting the defender's heel and was picked off. Now I haven't watched all of Eli's picks but I'd guess at least a couple fall into the fluke category.

3. No running game. Their lack of a running game is putting the entire pressure of the offense on him.

4. Terrible defense. And their defense is awful, which means they have to score a lot to stay in games.

5. Terrible offensive line play. He's not getting a lot of help up front.

6. Miscommunication between him and his receivers. His pick 6 last night is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. He reads the defense one way, his receiver reads it the other, and you've got an easy interception.

7. Bad mechanics. I'm guessing this is due a lot to the fact that he's under constant pressure, resulting in throws off his back foot, off-balance, etc.

Add all of those things together, and you've got Eli playing like he is.

Reuben Randle, Nick and Cruz are very VERY capable group of receivers... people seem to forget Thomas and Decker weren't that productive before peyton came along. and Julius Thomas was a nobody. Peyton raises the level of the receivers he plays with. Christ, even blair white was productive as a colt.

I hate defending Mannings, but Peyton's 28 came in his rookie year.

Eli is on pace for 40 picks. The Super Bowl era record is 35, by Vinny Testaverde in 1988.

Must suck having a QB rating 72 points lower than your brother.

Someone once told me that Eli was a better QB than his older brother because he had more rings.....I don't know if it was sarcasm, but it was the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Yes, as a guy that owns a Rivers jersey I've dealt with plenty of people that throw everything out the window in favor of ring count. Can't tell you how many times I've typed Dilfer > Marino. :gaah:
