Wow, what a great hire. Didn't think we were going to be able to replace Durkin with as good of a coordinator, given all the HC spots open this year, but dang if Harbaugh didn't do it. I'm just glad we didn't end up with Schiano like Ohio State.

This was hid pretty well, didn't even hear this name until yesterday when news broke. Sucks for BC as that was the only good part of their team this year.

I about crapped a Nabisco cracker when I read the report yesterday! I was pumped, I thought it had to be wrong at first. I was bummed about losing Durkin, but it may work out very well for us in the end.

Good hire for Michigan IMO. Boston College was good on defense this year, but were pretty bad in 2013 and 2014. It will be interesting, this guy has never coached big time football.

I wanted Jim Leavitt, I don't know much about Brown. Do any of you know position he'll coach? Derpkin was also the linebacker coach.

Ya, that Schiano hire was awful. I would much rather have a d coordinator from Boston college than a former NFL coach

You mean that guy who's been out of football for two years because no team wanted him?

I didn't see "Play in the ACC" on that list.
IDK, what they did this year on defense was pretty damn impressive -- even for ACC standards.

To be fair they held Florida State in check and were really the only team that stopped Dalvin Cook.

I know, I'm just fucking with you guys. Congrats on the "higher". Hopefully he doesn't figure out how to stop Michigan State.

Oh dude I literally LOL'd at the comment because the ACC has always been overrated.

And I only know that they shut down cook cause he was on my fantasy team this year.

It's refreshing to see a coach who goes after the best person possible and not just someone he knows who will be easy to convince to come.

That is foolish to think no team wanted him. Maybe no team he wanted to coach wanted him but he man could have gotten a job. If you are going to say anything negative about the hire it would be he is using Ohio State as an obvious stepping stone and we will most likely be looking for a new DC in a couple seasons if the defense plays at a high level. Otherwise, it was a great hire and you are just looking at it through Maize and Blue colored glasses.

Good hire. Maybe a little long in the tooth but he appears to be a college coordinator lifer. Everything I read reminds me of Mattison without the NFL pedigree.

Coordinators are primary recruiters. I wonder how Brown will recruit?

As for Schiano I think he was brought in to OSU because he can recruit. I never thought his defenses were all that great but he will try to loosen up UofM's strangle hold on New Jersey.

Yup, and he was such a great NFL coach, too.

He was given the chance as an NFL coach. That is the point. Not every college coach is given that opportunity and a heck of a lot of good/great college coaches fail at the NFL level

You're right. But, so are the posters who noted that he hasn't exactly been sought after for the last two years, either.
