he says "Financially, the team is young and, to maintain this level of talent, will require more resources. That's where Ray Davis and I will step in, and we have the vision to sustain this and increased revenues and have a perennial power in baseball."

Yep. I heard them mention that during the season... about how they'll provide the $$$ as long as the "need" or the "player" is great enough. They want the team to win as much as we do... so they will do whatever it takes to keep everyone here. (within reason).

Plus, you know, add key free agents. I dont see them being in the 160-200 million dollar range... could see them around 120-140 million though.

i don't see them at the 200M level yet but it wouldn't surprise me to see them at least reach 150M

I hope those resources he is talking about continue to be invested in the minor league system and the outstanding scouting system they have built. Do that and they can keep the payroll in the 120-140 million range..or lower.

but while doing all that and waiting for the minor league goldmine to develop, they need to keep the team competitive and retain the core players they will, and this Simpson's words not mine, make the money available to do it.

I'm sure they will do whatever is possible to retain talent, based on Daniels and Ryan's suggestions, but no where in his quote will find the words, free agents or money. Those are your words.

It's a public forum, Scotsman. Expect questions and a different point of view.

Once again when al is responded to with the truth and facts he has nothing to come back with besides some smart ass remark that lends nothing to the discussion or his previous statements proven wrong.

well then ask your questions of Bob Simpson. unlike you, i don't try to read into what he said. he said the team would do whatever it took to keep the team competitive, his words not mine.
