Take notice Western Conference......
yes it was a great performance tonight.
38 point lead at one point.
They have officially become a Western Conference contender.
2 down 2 to go on this Texas Triangle + OKC road trip.
Before you guys go licking nuts you find blazing down the trail they beat a SA team who has a horrible record against the Elite teams.
Vs POR, OKC, LAC, HOU, GSW, IND and MIA (have not played them yet) they are 3-9. 2 of those wins came vs GSW who is the weakest record among them and early in the season before GSW were on this run. GSW was 4-1 (GSW in SA) and 14-12 (GSW home but way underachieving) going into their games against SA.
SA is NOT this all powerful team you think they are. Injuries, great coaching and "creative" reffing made them look twice as good as they were last year, and this year their big 3 is a year older.
Please remember that the year before they went to the finals they won 2 home games vs OKC to lose 4 straight on OKC's way to losing the finals 4-1. They did sweep Utah and the Clippers on their way to that WCF.
Their team from then until now has not changed that much. SA is not this buzzsaw teams who beat SA want to make them out to be. They are a great regular season team with great coaching who will not beat a healthy OKC and probably not a healthy GSW. LAC and HOU are in the air right now pending coaching scheme implementation and trades.
Excluding SAS, they're 1-0 vs Indy, 0-1 vs MIA, 2-0 vs OKC, 1-1 VS Houston, and 1-0 VS the Clippers (they have yet to play GSW. So excluding their 2-0 record against the team tied for the 2nd best record in the league, they're 5-2 against the other 5 top teams in the league. People are not just bragging about Portland just because of 2 wins against the Spurs.....They have consistently beaten the other top teams in the league
Thread title is misleading.
Indy was on 2nd day of back to back both away, POR was on a B2B but at home for the 2nd leg where POR won a close one.
OKC lost in POR on the 2nd day of a 2 away game B2B and the 2nd time with out Westbrook.
HOU played both times in POR and split, 1st game (they won) was the 2nd day of a B2B and 3rd of a 3 away games in 4 nights.
LAC were on the 2nd night of a 2 away game back 2 back.
The game POR lost to MIA was with out Lebron and Wade, Bosh did hit a long 3 in the closing seconds to win...
but I think my point has been made. POR is not the contender we are making them out to be. Their run is lasting far longer than the 76ers's did but in the end, it won't be much different.
So basically what you're saying is no team in the NBA should win on the 2nd night of a B2B. Tonight Portland destroyed Dallas on the 2nd night of a B2B and will handle HOU monday when they will be playing their 3rd game in 4 nights in a different city. Miami beat Portland on a 2nd night of a B2B also so using that lame excuse for OKC, Indy, and Houston is complete bullshit
