Honestly it was one of the worst hires in recent history. Stewart was basically hired because of Pat White in the Fiesta Bowl after the emotion of Rich Rod leaving. Totally emotional and impulsive hire, with zero thought to Stewart's resume or long term plan. Clemson is currently struggling with a very similar situation.

Bill Stewart and Rich Rod complete each other. If Stewart went to Michigan with Rich then I believe both would still be employed.

Loved ole Stew as a Mountaineer but my lord what a botched hire. He wasn't a head coach candidate anywhere... Our AD at the time didn't even have a search for the most qualified candidate .
