A long time ago, I was watching the tournament at Pebble Beach on TV.......
And Bill Murray was on the eighteenth tee.......
CBS brought in this mystery analyst. He was giving advice......He was using a telestrator to draw on TV.


He said..."You've got all these beautiful people on the right side. So you don't want to hit them.
And you've got the ocean on the left, so you don't want to hit it in there.
So you got bad stuff on the right and bad stuff on the left.
So what you want to do, (diagramming) is bring the ball down the middle like this.
You want to bring the ball between the two bad stuffs"

The mystery analyst was John Madden......

It just doesn't get any better than that..

I miss John Madden......He was a true original, who loved what he was doing..........And it's remarkable he traveled all over the country, when he refused to fly.

I was reading some Bob Rotella recently and I've never worked on his insistance that you must pick out a specific target. An exact spot for each shot. I might try it this year.
