I'm not a H2H person but last year in my only H2H league I was really really bad.

What should I do different in H2H if anything compared to roto?

Get some aces probably. What are your roster/settings? How many in the league and are you playing with people you know or is it public?

It is a private league with some guys from the NBA board on here but some of the people I don't know because one of the guys invited some people I guess from the Dodgers board or something.

But it is a 10 team H2H league.

As for the roster it is 9 position players, 5 SP, & 2 RP

Cleanup hitters are nice.

I avoid pitching early, load my lineup with run producers and look to fill as many bench positions as possible with solid, mid round, high strikeout pitchers. Playing as many two starter starters as I can every week.(Weekly start limits need to be met for this to pay off to the fullest.) If there aren't limits on starts for the season, it's pretty much fool proof to make the playoffs.

With only 9 position players, outfielders will be easy to come by. Try to avoid filling all three spots early. Look at more scarce positions like 2nd, SS and third before you take non-elite outfielders with similar offensive upside.

There are two ways to look at it.

1. Fill up your SP early. Consistency is HUGE. Having three top 15-20 arms will give you deadly consistency. The scoring at CBS (unless yours is skewed) is highly pitcher heavy, i.e. 3 points per IP. With only nine hitters to fill, options are a plenty, even if they aren't elite. The thing is, even elite hitters have bad weeks. Elite aces will have less than five losses. Just be wise finding the good value hitters late.

2. Let everyone draft pitching and load up on the elite hitters. Then have your whole bench be arms. That way you can match up 2-starters as often as you can. There are enough arms out there for this to work.

Both can be effective.

Edit: also when considering option 1, look for SB guys not in platoons. CBS standard is 2 points per SB, so they can be just as valuable as a 25 HR guy.

in a shallow league like this, only take studs when available... doesn't matter what position, doesn't matter pitching or offense... when no more studs are available take players based on upside and take risks, even f they are reaches... if deep bench then the bench is where you play it safe...

This draft is going horrible.

Guys forgot to pre-rank players so all the pitchers are gone.

One team after 6 rounds had 6 pitchers.

Basically.

So far my hitters look like this:

Posey
Miggy
Cano
Beltre
Desmond
Stanton
Bryce Harper
Billy Hamilton

And here is the rest of the team. Before you criticize my draft just remember there were a ton of idiots drafting pitchers far too early which killed my strategy.

Kris Bryant
Starlin Marte
JD Martinez
Ben Revere
Lance Lynn
Garrett Richards
Michael Pineda
Justin Verlander
Taijuan Walker
Fernando Rodney
Trevor Rosenthal
Jonathan Papelbon
Collin McHugh

I will try to package several of my OF for a legit SP

Disappointed that I was drafting with idiots

Nice. Only thing I'll say negative is I hope you didn't draft Beltre over Arenado.

Where did Scherzer go?

7th.

All you need to know about this draft is that only 2 position players went in the first round ( I drafted Stanton and someone took Trout with the #2 pick)

6 position players were taken in the first 2 rounds

unreal

As good as Stanton is, I probably would have went with Scherzer. As you see by your bench OF, you wouldn't miss Stanton as much as you would in a roto league.

I plan on trading.

I know some of those guys who went pitchers for the first 6 rounds will be looking for some power.

no way! Scherzer or Kershaw would be the only arms I'd trade for Stanton....and maybe Felix.
