It's been over a decade since the Expos took off for Washington, D.C., and became the Nationals, but the desire for major league baseball still lingers in Montreal.

Manfred said -
"Look, I think Montreal helped itself as a candidate for Major League Baseball with the Toronto games that they had up there last year. It’s hard to miss how many people showed up for those exhibition games. It was a strong showing. Montreal’s a great city. I think with the right set of circumstances and the right facility, it’s possible."

Right - it was exhibition. Good luck with 81 games.

Olympic Stadium was a latrine and they had a piss-poor broadcast contract.

Montreal is a big city. If they don't make the same bone-headed mistakes that they made with the Expos, I think it is possible.

They also got screwed over by the 1994 strike. Obviously no guarantees, but the 94 Expos were far and away the best team in the National League and very well may have been the best team in baseball. Amazing the difference a year makes. If the strike had been in 1995 instead of 1994, you very well may be looking at the Mariners in DC with the Expos thriving since building their new stadium in Montreal.

They could exist efficiently in MLB, just like Oakland does. It's better than Tampa. They don't have a ballpark in Montreal and until they agree to build one, Manfred can discuss it all day. Montreal is the last place on the continent that isn't walking over another franchise's market.

Would love to have baseball back in Montreal but they got to do it smarter this time than they did with the Expos. Build a new stadium, be willing to spend money.

Yep, and the Expos had good young talent to build on. When it looked like they were going to be contracted Omar Minaya traded CLiff Lee, Grady Sizemore and someone else for Bartolo Colon to try and make a run.

They did trade Pedro to Boston for Carl Pavano and Tony Armas Jr. Advantage Boston!!

Baseball returning to Montreal would be great for the fans as long as they don't have those same uniforms.

Those were horrid

and aside from that have owners that will spend money. have to spend money to make money. last time they had good players but didn't want to spend to re-sign them and traded them away for basically balls, bats and tape. then the team sucks and attendance goes into the shitter and then they will be looking to relocate again.
