2.1 more shutout innings for Round Rock reliever, Zack Littell, tonight. He hasn't given up a rum allyear and his WHIP is 0.47.

He has to be considered for a promotion, I would think.

Since the game where Mason Englert got knocked around he has pitched 8.2 innings while only allowing 1 run, 1 walk and striking out 11 in 4 appearances.

They are not even going to have to hide him at the back of the bullpen.

I along with a number of others was not happy what we did in regards to staffing our BP in the off season. I would have to say one of the biggest gripes many of us had was not signing Matt Moore. That not happening is beyond my understanding. Instead we sign someone like Ian Kennedy.

Yes obviously Moore over Ian is preferable and i thought they had a deal in their pocket
But in afterthought maybe getting Odorizzi and having Burke and Dunning was enough for long relief and Moore was a surplus. Ok in theory

However the back end especially closer was not addressed and left with guys coming off injury who were unproven wild and with less stuff even JHern. The old JHern would be good even the old LeCleec
Such a critical spot in the team is something you don’t wish for improvement

The Reds learned not to free swing on pitches from the Ranger relievers. The book is now out and we have to adjust

I'm guessing the front office was not comfortable paying Moore $7.5M when they thought he would return to Earth soon, 2-4M they probably would have jumped at...

That is the problem. Their comfort zone is all out of whack.

$7.5 in relation to deGrom Seagar and Semien is pocket change. Not shelling out for Moore is already starting to cost them.

Well maybe the problem with this series is we have a conflicted poster who enjoys his hometown a bit too much @Uncle Siggy
We got jinxed

Maybe part of the problem is assessing what makes a good pitcher. Maybe the regression Siggy alludes to is his underwhelming stuff
However his craftiness may be at a surplus compared to many.

Thus we have Bradford who sure appears to know how to pitch but is not going to overpower you as is the trend. These pitchers are under appreciated and under valued.

Still I want at least one guy in the 9th who can mow guys down with swing and misses. Balance sports fans

I just want a guy in the 9th who gets guys out, doesn't walk many, and who can get mostly weak contact.

Well funny most of the hits last game for Reds were weak contact

Minus HR

Part of our bullpen problems stems from the front office not trusting our young starters to the extent that they went out and signed at least one too many starters this past offseason. They should have used some of that money on two relievers and allowed Dunning, Otto, and Ragans to compete for a spot in the rotation.

That lack of trust even spilled out to Rule 5 protection. Both Englert and Bradford should have been protected, but the front office had more trust in guys like Sborz, Martin, Miller and others. They even valued Ornelas more than them, and no one was going to claim him and attempt to keep him on their roster all year.

I will take the 1999 Jeff Zimmerman as a closer any day, even though he was a set up man at the time.

The thing with Sborz is that I read Bochy likes his arm and others too. He has surprisingly given up less hits than innings in his career which is always a good thing. He’s just way to inconsistent in his outings.

Ink is of mine his arm too but do think mental makeup is not a part of the equation as much as needed

Ha yeah not always can I have it both ways

Rather have a heart is champion and underwhelming stuff but a crafty pitcher
Than a guy with great stuff but can’t throw a strike in a tense moment

Last game I went to go see was when Darvish hit his only HR and Moreland was on 1B, I pay way more attention to the Rangers. Now when I was a kid it was a different story with The Big Red Machine and all…
