Interesting Pete Carroll mention today in his weekly press conference that Alvin Bailey would see more time at LT this week and Malcolm Smith would see more time in LB rotation.

With the Bailey situation, Im surprised they didnt try this sooner and its kinda odd that they are waiting the week before Okung is coming back. Bailey did play for the 1st time last week on the drive that ended in the Kearse touchdown to pull us within 21-7. Bailey playing LT would likely mean Mcquistin moves back to LG and Carpenter is the odd man out. Mcquistin if measured by sacks given up is one of the worst LTs in football. Bailey has been highly regarded by Carroll and Cable since training camp so Im not surprised he is getting a shot, Im just surprised it took this long.

With Malcolm Smith Im sure its mostly related to Bobby Wagner. With Wagner out with his ankle injury, KJ played in the middle with Malcolm playing outside. It was just two games but the defense played pretty well in those games. Since Wagner came back, we have been gashed on the ground by nobody running backs. Whether Wagner came back to soon or is playing undisciplined is up for debate but he hasnt seemed right and hopefully he can regain his 2012 form.

In Bailey case, I think they just want to develop him. I don't think he ready to step in and replace McQuistin yet as back up. Malcolm has played well and has earned more snaps.

The silver lining with all these injuries, is that the Seahawks are developing depth, which will help them down the road.

Dave Wyman has been talking a lot about Wagner shedding blocks too much to try to make open field tackles instead of taking on his block and filling running lanes. I'm pretty sure that has something to do with how bad our run defense has been lately.
