The mere mention of Fister's name gives me a headache simply because of how bad that trade was from the very beginning, it didn't take hindsight to make it a horrible trade.

True, but to me it was the parts of the trade that sucked so much. We got back a package of garbage and that was very evident at the time.

However I had the opinion at the time that trading Fister was the right move. He was not projected to be as good as he was and he looked like a prime candidate to regress quite a bit. We sold high which was the right decision. Too bad we didn't have someone to say no to such a shit deal and find a good one.

yep, could've yielded something much better.

1. farm building, 2. free agent signings, 3. strategic trades

those are the 3 cornerstones for creating a perennial contender. z is incapable of doing any of them well. i don't care if it's because he's simply incompetent, or if it's because of the ceo and president hamstringing him. something's got to give.

Lester just scratched from his next start.

Move imminent, I believe.

Ill be surprised if Lester comes here, however I do want him more then the other pitchers out there. I see the Dodgers and Pirates being more likely right now but we will see

To be clear, I never claimed I thought he was coming here.

I'd be happy, though.

I know you didn't. I just threw that in for thrills. We are too busy looking at 'c' level bats.

God created man in his likeness and apparently Jack has a God complex because he trades for guys in his likeness.

Wonder if Boston would flip Cespedes? I know its a long shot but hopefully they at least make a call over there. Nows the time to try for Milone as well

Why in the world did the A's make that trade? Im assuming Cespedes is in a walk year? If not I think Mr. Money ball got fleeced.

Your trying to make a run at the ship and you trade your cleanup hitter?????

Cespedes is free agent after next year. And I just read his contract is written up that he cannot receive a qualifying offer so there will be no draft pick tied to him if he signs elsewhere.

Oakland is clearly going for a title. Trying to outpitch the Tigers this year instead of outhit em.

I really hope Lester goes right back to Boston (or anywhere else for that matter) and the A's are left with no Lester and no Cespedes next year. Really happy that another M's killer is out of the ALW.
