Are you ashamed of any former star players for your team?

If coaches count, its an easy decision but as far as disappointing/ashamed players, I would go with....

Michael Vick

He has turned his life around and is being a positive influence, but there are millions that I'm sure will never forgive him. While his transgressions didn't occur while at VT, he is still the biggest name player we've ever had and it brought a negative light on Hokie Nation. His election to the school hall of fame this year had plenty outspoken against it.

To a lesser extent, his brother Marcus was arguably more talented, but just such a dumbass. Michael gto his big NFL payday and Marcus then had everything he ever wanted why still a kid, leading to a big head of entitlement that Michael didn't have while in college (at least not in my experience having conversations with him).

Totally disagree.

Mike Vick got caught doing what tons of guys do. Mike did way more time in prison than was necessary, actually paid back all of his debts, and had a successful NFL career before and after prison, where he revolutionized the QB position. He still speaks against animal violence and does TONS of community service work.

The people who were against him getting into the hall of fame were jagoffs who weren't affiliated with VT. Love Mike Vick.

Marcus is the closest I could be to someone I'm 'ashamed of,' and I'm not ashamed of him. We've had plenty of good but dumb players. It happens everywhere.

I guess I should have prefaced that by saying I was ashamed of him at that time, but have been proud of his turnaround. He has and continues doing great work in the community, but there is no denying that millions of others will never forgive him, including a significant amount of VT alumni. I am not one of them, but they are still there.

It also wasn't just people not affiliated with VT that opposed his induction. Many professors, students, doners and alumni voiced their opposition, with many pointing to the criteria that the athlete must not have been an embarrassment to the school in any way. While I guess that phrase can be interpreted to mean only while a student, many did not agree with that interpretation. And I'm sure there were plenty of outsiders voicing opposition, I personally know many alumni that appreciated his football contributions, but he didn't deserve to be inducted. There are also many that had no issue with it.

Mike did more time because he lied to the FBI, not only because of the dog fighting. If it would've been just the dog fighting, the sentence would've been closer to 6 months.

Lawrence Phillips is the obvious. Heisman caliber and threw it all away because he couldn't control his temper on multiple occasions.
Contrary to belief though, Nebraska didn't need him to win the national title in 1995 as they had Ahman Green as his backup.

That last documentary on Lawrence Phillips was excellent. Really humanized him. A must see

I was a kid when David Pollack was a badass linebacker for Georgia. He was dominant. First round NFL draft pick who's career got cut short due to a neck injury.

I finally had to unfollow him on Twitter.

Every Tweet is "I don't eat sweets, I don't drink alcohol EVER and only eat organic food."

I mean, the fucker even brags about weighing like 70 pounds less than he did in his playing days, and he was never fat, so he must be bragging about losing muscle?

Dude has turned straight queer.
I remember Greene and Pollack at GA. I cannot stand Pollack because depending on which segment is happening during Game day he is either polished white guy broadcaster or whigger #1. And what is the hell with him grunting every week trying to dance with the obligatory sideline bunny?

For what its worth...I cannot stand Desmond Howard

Hold a second...the thread asked about former players. Granted Sandusky played at Penn St. he was not a star. And he committed his acts as a coach
