I'd almost prefer we not be ranked that high to start the pre-season. ND usually gets everyone's best game. Its easier to weather that storm without the target on your back. I'd rather work their way into a playoff spot than have to defend it from the get-go. Plus, keeps them hungrier, angrier and focused.

Yes re Rank we will be between 3-5. With a top DC we have a great shot at winning it.

I have a strong feeling that Kelly will not fire BVG. The only way he's leaving is if he has a job offer. I don't think anyone is going to come calling. Maybe a position coach in the NFL, but I doubt that pays even as good as the DC job at ND or a head coaching job at a mid-major.

I'm afraid he won't either not this year but he will have to show he can get the job done next year if they don't let him go this year. If I were Swarbrick I wouldn't give Kelly a choice.

How's this. Swarbrick tells him, you want to keep him, you're going to have to pay his salary. Cut Kelly's compensation accordingly.
