That was one of the more interesting bench clearing "brawls" or whatever you want to call it. In a minor league hockey move, the Angels brought in an "opener" to throw at the Mariners guy. That's what it looked like anyway. I'm sure after the game the manager will assure everyone that the ball just "got away from him"

I didn't see the lead up to it, but there were some decent fists (for modern era) being thrown early.

Winker seemed to be intentionally hit. It seems like someone on the Angel's bench must have said something that set Winker off after the pegging.

Winker spent quite awhile screaming in the LA manger's face.

Yeah I thought Winker giving all the fans the finger was a nice touch. And that lunatic from the Angels that was throwing gum on the field was pretty entertaining.

....so apparently this was retaliation for a high and inside on Trout yesterday. But they already threw behind Julio Rodriguez's head in the 1st inning, so I don't know why they hit Winker after that.

Starting a little used reliever to do this shows obvious intent and premeditation. Others probably deserve suspension also, but the Angel's manager deserves a multiple game suspension imo.

Nevin is old school, which I usually like. I probably would take him in a straight fight against Winker, even at his age.

But I'm with you, that whole thing looks like just a dick move.

Yeah I saw that. Luckily they were on the road. I remember back in the day Garry Templeton did that to the home crowd in St. Louis and it was such a big deal they ended up trading him. (In retrospect I think the whole thing was rigged by Joe Buck and the rest of the baseball illuminati that insists on helping St. Louis. They trade him for a no-hit good field shortstop named Ozzie, who ended up improving his hitting and winning a million gold gloves)

Nevin is doing all he can to be more hated by baseball fans than La Russa.
