Not even now are Heat fans saying that Oden will be the difference. I know I was hoping for 5 minutes a game in the ECF when they signed him. Now I am just hoping he stays healthy to give those 5 minutes.

I've been here since October and even I can back what Hammer posted, plenty of Heat "fans" were sucking off Oden as a difference maker.

While I don't recall any of them stating with absolute certainty that Oden would make the difference, several Heat fans have said that they were hoping they could get 10-15 minutes per game in the playoffs and that it would offset enough of their disadvantages in the paint to get them another title.

They were specifically looking at potential matchups with Indy and the Spurs.

If that is your definition of difference maker then even I said that Oden would be a "difference maker".

I do not really think the Heat need Oden to beat IND this year (never did) but using the loosest definition of the term difference maker I do think he will be a "difference maker".

Not sure it's such a loose definition. The way to beat Miami is to beat them in the paint. The 2 teams that are most equipped to that are Indy and the Spurs.

The Heat brought Oden in with the hopes that they could bring him along, keep him healthy and they could use him to combat that advantage.

Perhaps a better term is "potential difference maker".

The Pacers don't need Bynum in the regular season - what they need him for is the playoffs and honestly if he is even 50% of what he was for the Lakers in their two championship titles - the Pacers have a good chance to take home a title. I think that really is a big IF though

In terms of Hibbert, Oden will help out.

Hibbert is not a good offensive player when he is facing someone close to his height and weight. These are facts

no one has said he would be the difference. we are two time defending champs... none of us want a difference.

all we say is he will be better at defending hibbert than haslem.

we are two time defending champs. we don't need a difference with the pacers. if hibbert dominates against us... we still win. see last two playoff series. we are just saying he will play better than haslem for 10 minutes. and if he doesn't.. no difference. we still win the series.

the heat will be champs this year. laker fans need to accept this. it is happening.
