According to Bob Pompeani, Cam Newton's 19-yard scramble was longest Carolina's history.

That can't be right, can it?

Almost impossible to believe if they're counting pre-season games. I'm looking on footballreference right now....quickly found a 19 yarder by Randy Fasani in 2002. Will look and see if there's anything actually longer.

According to Pro Football Reference, Collins had a 21 yard run in 1997. Beuerlein had a 20 yard run the same year. Weinke had a 23 yard run in 2001. Longest runs I saw.

Oh, haha, space beat me to it.

More B.S. Newton hyping. I heard someone on ESPN Radio today at lunch whose moronic explaination went something like this:

"All great passers need to develop a relationship with his safety valve, the TE, and Newton's been able to do that this preseason."

What a tool. He's ONLY throwing to the TEs & RBs because he isn't able to get it to the WRs. Way to try to paint a negetive into a positive 'cause he's the icon.

It just goes to show you how much they know. They were saying the same thing about Tebow, while we all knew it would never happen. Cam might be a little better, but he's never going to be a "franchise QB".
