Alright Iowa-ISU score predictions and other thoughts here

ugh, this is why I hate when you guys make predictions...damn free throws down the stretch and could no one help out on Niang's drive? frustrating, we needed that win and once again had what, a 9 point lead in the first half easy and let it go, felt like the Nova game all over

That's what happens when you play not to lose and slow...err....STOP the offense with 2 minutes to play. Interrupts the flow of the game and, big surprise, we choked on free throws. They were trapping and intentionally fouling Iowa, just a scared group of kids tonight. Live and learn and move on to the next game, I guess.

McCabe had a horrible game. Hated to see him take that last shot.

The last shot didn't bother me. What bothered me is repeatedly missing layups with 6 seconds left when we're down by 3 points. We had 2 open (want to say Gesell/Marble) beyond 3 and we don't kick it out to one of them?

Easily McCabe's worst game as a Hawkeye. 0-7 shooting, 4 fouls in like 15 minutes of play. When he touched the ball he just plowed towards the basket and threw up several ridiculous shots. But I can't lay the blame solely on him, that was a team loss if I've ever seen one. Just miss after miss in crunch time - easy shots/layups, free throws...you name it. Gessell looked scared to death at that free throw line. Hopefully this is one of those losses that pays dividends in the long-run.

You couldn't ask for a more open look on the 3 attempt by McCabe. Why the attempted put backs happened I don't know. A layup there doesn't help win the game unless ISU fouls on the shot. Clem's right, this was a total team loss at the end.
