With only 8 teams, I have more faith in my ability to draft well later on. Maybe over-confidence, but the NBA is super top heavy.

Except MJ can only play a half, and by taking the trade, you'd have two picks a round through round 6, X9=54 meaning you have 10 of the top 54 ever. MJ ain't that good lol

It is an all-time draft though. I mean you would be getting back-to-back picks for 5 straight rounds. You would fill your starters and one other quarter

If it was segmented into halves, I'd agree. But because there's a differential in the quarter system, the 1 half makes an extreme amount of difference. You win one half, then win one quarter, you're good.

I mean for sake of argument, let's say I traded Milk MJ. He takes Magic like he already did. There's almost no way I can win the half against him with his starters, assuming he drafts a few other players.

Then I'm trying to win the quarters against him and even then I'd have to win by a large enough margin in both to cover the half.

The half is a big factor here that I don't think people are thinking through yet.
