If you want to argue that the all NBA should be positionless I would agree with you, but until it is Embiid at 2nd team is just fine.
Sure, 1st team Embiid gets a max contract, second team he's panhandling outside Reading Terminal Market. On this we agree. At the same time, this shit is involved in how much a player can demand on their max contract. So it still matters on some level.
Dude...Poor Jason Tatum. He had a great year but his presence on first team is fraudulent. Embiid had more votes on 1st team ballots than Tatum.
Well, at least Tatum got on and not Butler.Poor Jason Tatum. He had a great year but his presence on first team is fraudulent. Embiid had more votes on 1st team ballots than Tatum.
Actually from what I understand there are certain things that trigger what the max value actually is. Things like MVPs and 1st All NBA ROTY etc…go into that.Sure, 1st team Embiid gets a max contract, second team he's panhandling outside Reading Terminal Market.
Oops, my bad, he's still getting a max deal even if he isn't named on any team.
Yrs, but one of the triggers is being named to any of the three All=NBA teams. He's gonna do okay.Actually from what I understand there are certain things that trigger what the max value actually is. Things like MVPs and 1st All NBA ROTY etc…go into that.
Yeah it definitely looks off. They didn’t do a very good job this year

It’s not about contract language though. Check out Tatum’s case. Last year he was left off All NBA. It impacted the level of max he was eligible for.The players really need to stop letting stuff like that be put in their contracts. These things are voted on and are outside of their control.

That’s my understanding. It’s at the macro level in the CBA.Then it would have to be tied to what is allowed under the CBA. So it's still something that needs to be negotiated out of any deals.
If it was positionless he also would have had way more votes in the first place. He lost a lot of 1st team votes to Jokic. His 5th overall total is artificially suppressed by a bad rule.Embiid had more votes than Tatum but position matters, I guess. Embiid should have replaced Tatum in positionless voting.

I think position less still ties in here. Guards and and forwards have twice the slots because of arbitrary rules. If they are going to limit centers they should hard lock PF and PG as well to a single spot.Positionless is typically invoked because the center position has been devalued though; this is the exact opposite of that situation.
IMO, an all-NBA team needs to be position specific. Having it be 3 PGs and 2 SGs (or some other similar unbalance) devalues the award IMO.
There is no threat of a list with 5 guards. The goal should be awarding the 5 best players. Either way, that option was available to people this year but no talent self important ass clowns decided to get stringent on the same ridiculous notion that you’ve put forth. This 1st team should have been Luka Book Giannis Embiid and Joker.Positionless is typically invoked because the center position has been devalued though; this is the exact opposite of that situation.
