Will it still be good?

I took my piece of steak out of the freezer around 6pm or 7 pm last night. Left it on the counter and forgot all about it until about 7:15am this morning. Will the steak be good still or should I throw it out? I am still at work so i can't check the steak right now.

Inspect it with a magnifying glass. If there's nothing moving, nothing wrong.

How big of a steak is it? Personally I would still eat it but I would make sure to cook it a bit longer than I would prefer otherwise.

Next time, if you forget to thaw it out in the fridge, toss it into a shallow sink of luke warm water. It will thaw in about 20 minutes. Been doing that for years.

Yeah, What I usually do is let it thaw out about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way then put it into the fridge. Forgot to do it this time

it is a 2 pounder

I would bet it stayed cold enough for most of that 12 hours if it was 2 lbs.

That is how I do it.

As for the meat, it really depends how cool it was in your house over that time. From 7 to 7 I imagine your house stays pretty cool. If so, eat the meat. YOLO.
