Battle of the greybeards tonight (they should really start this game at 6:00 Eastern time)

Kipper stole one in Nashville on Tuesday night, he'll have to be great again to get any points out of the Joe tonight. Wings are a great puck possession team, Flames will have to be good in the face-off circle, skate hard and be physical (Sarich was a one-man wrecking crew last game).

Go Flames Go!

Weird stat of the night:

Flames leading scorer - Brendan Morrison
Wings leading scorer - Todd Bertuzzi

Where's Markus Naslund for the WCE reunion?

I hate playing Kipper when he is on his game.

Good luck, Dasher(of the)board.

We'll see if the home team can win a game in the series this year...

Bmo has been a great signing indeed!

Another surprising thing that has attributed to Berts scoring is his durability. If he plays another 82 game season, he might crack 60 points. He's had an underrated turnaround to his career. Probably because it was so slow going. That was one big hole he had to climb out of though...

Bert could be finally healthy (that wonky back plagued him for a long time). He still has the soft hands. Babcock doesn't play favourites either (Keenan always gave Bert lots of PP time, never held him accountable when he was taking dumb penalties etc.).

and with the canucks, at the end I think Crawford was just afraid of Bert so he let him do what ever he wanted

i give Babcock alot of credit ... he has that psych degree and he just knows how to massage egos and who he needs to ride

/starting to see this PTO decision will haunt the canucks ... Bmo playing well and Schaeffer struggling to keep up with the NHL pace ... hopefully with some time and a few more games Shaef can get back up to speed

Nice thread title, btw...:D

I'll try to pop in, but I don't normally sit at the computer during Wings games. I still get all wound up like a baseball during games after all these years. :)

Unless a Calgary player does something dirty, then I'm gonna log in to yell at you like you were on the ice. ;)

Well, that's to be expected, right? That Kronwall guy never leaps off the ice to deliver bone crushing checks either :D

/Good luck tonight, hopefully it's not 3-0 Wings after the 1st period.

Jimmy looked good. I agree with Mickey, he should of been one of the 3 stars. Kipper looked solid for the most part too. He could of stopped Bert's goal, but in his defense, The Mule just scored off his face.:L:D.....Poor Giordano on that Bert goal as well. Bouncing puck made him look silly.

That 2nd line is putting up some points. It's good to finally see the first wake up a little and chip in and help them. Datsyuk sure did some dangle dangling. It's always nice to see Lids score, but I did see a couple giveaways that didn't look like him at all.

Our penalty kill was a lot more aggressive tonight than usual. I think Practices might have been a lot of extra work over the 4 day layoff.

That's all the drunken rambling that I have for now...

nice win by the wings. definitely some scary moments in the 3rd. if the flames had any luck they would have scored 5 and jimmy still would have had a great night. a lot of spectacular saves, but the net coming off the mooring also made a couple huge saves.

and the bert goal to seal it, not sure kiprusoff could have stopped it. that's one of those over-the-glove-shoulder-in-the-crook-of-the-elbow type goals that the announcers always say no goalie can ever cover (i guess anatomically it's impossible), or at least that's what it looked like to me.

the best part is that the wings gave up no late period goals and especially no late 3rd period goals to give up a lead, which is what has plagued them the last couple years.
