It's an old book that has already had a movie made of it not long ago. Not exactly a huge built in rabid audience.

Now if they were to make a a list movie of something like the Hamilton musical that has a ridiculous built in audience they would do fine. Kind of like star wars, harry potter, and comic books. Built in audience that will buy anything. All you have to do is convince a few extra people on top of that built in audience and you make a bundle. Oprah's book club is past the point of having that kind of pull.
