Kap is hurting due to surgery. Might not see him. JJ not playing on the other side. Just a preseason game but we will see who gets the nod in these few weeks.

Nice throw by Gabbert. The line is giving him pretty good protection

fumbling a bit but not a bad showing. Gabbert will be the starting QB no doubt.

Ok well I will talk about the 1st half because the 2nd half was really about the 3rd and 4th guys.

1st Half: Very impressed with the Oline and Defense. Oline was very solid, they gave the QB enough time to throw and gave the RB lanes to run. D was solid. Secondary was great. Still lack that pass rusher.

QB: Gabbert: It will be a long year watching him play. Im just not a fan of him. I really hope Kap can beat him out. His throws are really bad. Yes he had a nice run to continue a drive but overall was not happy with him.
RB: Man we have a stable of RB's. Did not like the 2 fumbles and 1 by hyde but I understand this is like the 1st time they had hard contact like this. Overall RB's looked Great. Strength of this team.
WR: Avg Performance. No one really stood out. I think this is what we will get most of the season. Avg Performance.
TE: Vance catching the ball and scoring a TD. Great play by him. I was happy to see him catch the ball. Overall the group played well.
OL; Was really impressed with 1st and 2nd team OLine. I have nothing bad to say. Great job
DL: I was hoping to look a little better. Still had some trouble against the Run.
LB's: Overall good game. I do think Ray Ray should be the starter next to Bowman. He stood out between the 3. Whilhoite is just bad.
Secondary: Great job by this group. They shut down the Houston passing attack.

Overall: Grade B (would of been an A if Gabbert looked better)

I was very happy with this team and it was a great start to the season. This should help build some confidence. Watching Chip Kelly offense was fun and exciting. You saw Houston D getting tired in that 2nd Q. Im very excited about this season and I think we will shock some people this year.

I hope not he looked really bad. I cant watch him for the whole season. He will be the down fall of this team if he is the starter.

Line looked great. 1st and 2nd team line. 3rd and 4th looked bad. AD looked really good before that sack he let up.

It was fun to watch, after what we saw last year. You can see the difference in the team from this year to last year. This team is better coached. Tomsula was so bad.

Overall, the OL was dominant in run blocking and pretty good in pass pro. Nothing surprised me more than that. Brown whiffed on a couple of blocks and particularly looked out of his element when having to move side-to-side. A.Davis gave up a sack when he was faced with 2 rushers and didn't block either one (how does that happen?).

Thrilled to see our secondary play so well. Particularly Ward on the outside and C.Davis in the nickel. Damn, Acker fell apart out there. He just isn't that good at man/man and our DC runs a lot of it. Barring a major turnaround, Acker may not make the team.

Those 2 fumbles are a cause for concern, but 7ypc is a hell of a result for our RBs.

Gabbert will be the starting QB no doubt.

I hope so, but as I said...I firmly believe that Kaepernick will be the starter Week 1 simply because I don't want it to happen. In the end however, SF has no legit starter at that position.

I thought so too. They provided some good protection for Gabbert and opened up some nice lanes for the RBs.

I just hope Kap can win this battle. Gabbert is just bad. Those throws remind me of Trent Dilfer when he couldnt throw past 10 yards that 1 year. He is so off target on his throws he made the WRs look bad. Its the same Gabbert from last year. Kap just has the higher ceiling that is why I want him as the QB. Not saying I want him to be the future. Just this year.

Had to DVR the game and watched it last night. Oline play is much better than last year. That is not surprising given the right side of the oline for the first half of the season was Martin, Devey, and Pears. Those three together were just horrible. Gabbert started at inaccurate and made a few nice throws but didn't really distinguish himself. The business of a future QB is unfinished. Some of the cornerbacks played really well. Ward and Reaser played well. Lack of pass rush is still a concern.

Tomsula was in over his head but the coordinators were awful too. Geep Chryst was bad and my opinion of Roman hasn't changed. It was nice to see the offense using Bunch formations and running screens instead of just lining straight up every play.

whether Gabbert or Kaep, QB will be our 'downfall'. A distant second is pass rushing, since the O-line looks like they have a chance.
