I think rookie pitchers generally struggle but I haven't researched that to be honest. I do remember Maddux was horrible his 1st 2 or 3 seasons in the big leagues but I'm not sure if that was the exception or the rule with rookie pitchers.I wonder if Harrison is 'ready' yet? Getting lit up so far except for one magnificent game.
Anyone tracked how good pitchers usually start out their rookie year? Obviously a few are like Gooden or Valenzuela or Strasbourg and come out of the gate strong but can we say most of them take time to find their footing? Bumgarner was decent his rookie year I recall.
I could look these up but I'm lazy, how was Lincecum starting out? Or Kershaw or Verlander or whoever?
Not a good start at all.Only listening on radio, but this doesn’t sound good already.
Aaaannnd he doesn't.
Stokes, what was that stat about the Giants with the bases loaded? It just got worse.
A lot of not good stats coming from this team this year.Yup. Now bases loaded 118 times, and scored 67 runs. Not. Good.
Yeah. Harry getting schooled and the pathetic Giants' offense rearing its ugly head again. Not a great combo.I was busy with work this AM, so just turned on the game (I actually put it on my TV!).
I want to go back to work…
I thought he was going to as well. He started the season well (and did well with the Giants last year too). However, he has not looked good at all the past few months. I do wonder if he has become a non-tender candidate.I had really hoped that Davis would live up to his potential this season. Turns out that his potential is a lot lower than I thought it was. I thought he was a .270 hitter with 25-30 HR power and 80-85 RBI with a decent glove at third. He's a kind of local guy, too (Elk Grove).
Nothing worse than a runner 180 or 90 feet from home for the Giants. They need to stop doing that.Bummer. Now there are RISP for the Giants. A sure death knell of any rally.
I don’t think he has fallen THAT far. He has just proven that he isn’t a starter. He is solid bat off the bench and/or Util guy, but he isn’t an everyday player.I thought he was going to as well.
