Canada Cup '87 Powerplay

Up front Lemieux - Gretzky - Messier
with Bourque and Coffey on the points...That's pretty darn good.

was Messier on the first unit, or was it Hawechuk ?
either way.... wow.
combo of Andersson, Gartner, Goulet or a young Gilmour ready to take the second shift, if it ever got that far.

Gretzky is on today's OTR, talking about the series.

In the teaser, he said his dad blamed him for the game 1 loss.
Said he took too long of a shift late in the game, and it cost the team.

geez Walter, only the best player in the world and MVP of everything... cut him a bit of slack.

how about Walter Gretzky telling the russians to go down to the basement trophy room in units of 5 so they could sneak in a beer or two lol

watching game 1 now... my goodness Glenn Anderson was a diving bitch. just awful.

also, I miss watching Mike Garter play hockey, not matter which team he was with.
unbelievable wheels, and just a cannon off of the wing.

commentators talking about how Russia's problems stem from their goalkeeping, and they flash to they the guy in net: Mylnikov - 1.75 GAA

update:

Russians with a shorthanded breakaway goal.
there's that patented Messier backhand across the blueline :L
fucking overrated piece of shit.
on the plus (?) side, I have seen him lead with the elbows on about four different players in this game alone. (and kicked a puck in, when he should have had his stick on the ice).
oh, there it is.. Messier leaves his check in overtime, creating a 2 on 1. game over. thanks asshole.

game's getting chippy now
Tocchett (on what may have been his first shift in 25 minutes) hammers a defenseman into his own goalie.
Hartsburg gets a crosscheck to the back of Krutov's neck off of a faceoff. no call.
Anderson with the excuse-me elbow to the goalie's head, and then skates away like a chickenshit.

gotta say, Russia deserved this game, and by a wider score than this.
imho, the player of the game = Fetisov
also worth noting Fuhr let one in unscreened from outside the blueline, and the tying goal from behind the goalline.
