Huge game with the Cubs at the Doggies with:

Volstad 0-7 7.94 ERA

at Kershaw 8-6 2.95 ERA

Doggies got to be prohibitive favorites.

Maybe history can repeat:

(Not that I'm suggesting Volstad bean anyone, mind you, but the guy in the picture even looks a little like Kemp.)

Did Bumgarner even tag him? Barely. Good break for the Giants. I was scared we wouldn't see a shutdown inning.

2 out hits to the pitcher usually end up in disaster.

I really should be more attentive.

I was camping in the Sierra's Friday night, and drove home this afternoon. While stopped, I glanced at my iPhone for yesterday's score, and what I read was, SF-3, CO-4, 16 innings. What it actually said was August 3, SF-16, CO 4. I like the accurate version better. And tonight's game needs to go the same way.

Posey is going to Buster it right out of the park. I cant believe they are going to pitch to him with how hot he has been since the All-Star break.

Are you suggesting they walk him with the bases loaded?!?

Stokes - I think it is you who posts what our record is depending on how many errors we commit.

Can you query how we do depending how many walks we draw?

Hmm, good question. I will look into it. It will be some work, as I have been tracking stats on an Excel spreadsheet all season. I would have to go back and look at this game by game.

I suspect we do better with more walks. However, it may be just the inverse of the NFL teams that throw for the most yards in a game often lose, because they are playing catch up. I will look into this in the coming week. If you don't see anything, remind me again.

Just curious. I didn't know what kind of data query capabilities you had. Don't spend too much time on it.

I would think there would be a pretty positive correlation.
