Sooo close, there's a reason they're a big deal

Still a dominant performance and a great game for the 3rd win in a row

Weird to feel bittersweet on a win, especially with the stretch this club has been in.

Hey, a series win! I forgot those existed. Giants now on pace to go 85-77

Sole possession of 3rd wild card, 1 game back of 2nd.

Honestly the way it might shake out I might prefer the 3rd wild card. Let's say the Brewers win the division (likely), and Philly is the 1st wild card.

2nd WC plays at Philly, 3rd WC at Milwaukee. I think I prefer the latter.

By the way my season prediction was 85-77, 3rd wild card

Well, if the Giants maintain this pace in the last 30 games, you will be spot on.

Brilliant game by Cobb for sure.

Gotta think he'll be gassed in his next start.

Tomorrow is a weekday day game. Just sayin.

I wonder if Kapler will push his next start back a day. Throw another opener. Speaking of which, do you all think Winn will get one of the two spots that come available on Friday?

I think it depends upon if we get Giolito.

The waiver order as of right now (ignoring sub .500 teams):

MIA
CIN
BOS
AZ
MIN
SF

However, we are only .5 ahead of MIN, AZ, BOS. We could "climb" to third with a weekday day game loss and three wins by the Sox, Snakes, and Twinkies.

The order will be overall record as of tomorrow end of games. I can't see a sub .500 team spoiling the waiver like we did with Cody Ross so I guess it comes down to: do we want to pay Giolito if he falls to us? If nobody claims him and he is free to sign wherever. In that case, I'm sure he'd prefer ATL, BAL, LAD, or TB. In short, if we want him we'll have to pay him for one month (about $1.7M). I could see MIN claiming him though. AZ could Cody Ross us too.

It should be noted that we could end up falling to 7th with a win and a Cubs loss. The Cubs, I think would also claim Giolito.

Bottom line: I think Winn gets a spot. But, we can hope for Giolito.

131 wasn’t just the highest pitch count of Cobb's career; it was the highest pitch count from any starter in baseball since 2019. It was the highest pitch count from a Giants starter since Matt Moore, who also lost a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning.
I knew it was high but didn't realize it was that high. Wow! I do think his next spot in the rotation either gets skipped or pushed back a day.
