...nor does the .337 OBP.

He's looking more and more like a 4th outfielder. But, who leads off? Pagan again?

Earlier in this thread that's what I guessed. Pagan leading off (not like he drives many runs in out of the 5th/6th spot) Belt 6th Nate 7th. Which is fine if 1) Belt stays hot (and if he cools off he can't cool off to .225 again) and 2) Nate produces at a decent clip.

Another idea... If you want to keep Pagan towards the middle - this is pretty drastic and I'm not necessarily advocating it, Belt leading off. The boy can get on base and he's pretty fast too.

Overall though I think Belt is a better RBI man than Pagan so I'd go with Pagan at the top if I had too.

I'd give Blanco a little more rope and if he hangs himself with it make a move. HS had a terrible June can't repeat that in July.

Do we now know what needs to be done in future close games ???

;)

Great call gp956 - we win!

Caught the outcome on the radio, jon miller's call on the Bruce fuck-up was great....."fly ball to deep right, bruce under it......and.....HE MISSED IT!"

Seems like the easiest solution is for Blanco to start hitting again. He's swinging at way too many balls these days.

That would be awesome, I hope he has it in him.

He was terrible in June after a great May, he needs to be more consistent (duh) - it's one thing to be streaky and hit .310 for a month and then cool down to .250, it's another thing to go .318 in May and .218 in June, .218 with a .277 obp can't happen at the top of the order.

I'd give him through July to get it going again, but unless he shows some signs soon, the Giants can't go on forever with a hole at leadoff.

I think Bochy needs to platoon Nate and Blanco

Blanco was doing a decent job but I don't believe he's an everyday player and Bochy has started him like 30 straight games while Nate rots away .

Check out these stats vs RHP

Melky ( 223 AB ) .323 / .361 / .453 / .814

Pagan ( 199 AB ) .312 / .359 / .427 / .787

Nate ( 96 AB ) .292 / .364 / .458 / .823

Blanco ( 141 AB ) .234 / .335 / .369 / .704

Top 6 OBP vs RHP

Belt .369
Nate .364
Melky .361
Pablo .355
Pagan .355
Posey .354

Nate hitting only . 103 vs LHP this year 3-29

Nate needs to play 2, 3x a week and lets see what happens , Bochy tends to stick with people way too long , Winn , Huff , lets get that platoon going .

:attention:

Those numbers seem to speak for themselves if you ask me. But if you platoon do you just slide Nate in at leadoff? Or do you move Pagan in yadda yadda?

It messes with the lineup too much IMO to move guys up and down the lineup, so I'd go with just inserting Nate at the top, but I am not sure if he'd be comfortable there.

From Game One:

I don't what that pitch is, but I hope the rest of the hitters are prepared for it for the rest of the series. It's nasty.

Arredondo was the pitcher, and that's who Pagan got the game winning "double" off of. Looked like the "slider" hung up a bit, which allowed Oxy to get some wood on it.

A backup two-seamer is pretty easy to throw. And if you want to buzz somebody up and in, it's the pitch to use in a R/R, L/L situation. That said, I doubt he was trying to actually hit Vogelsong. It looked to me that Vogey was reacting mainly to the collateral damage to the umpire.

Wasn't that the second time Arroyo threw one up and in to Vogey while he was trying to bunt?

And yes, Vogelsong is the man. My favorite Giant.

Yep, first one put him on his butt.
