Tells me that his 17 game streak was pretty hollow. His results appeared great, but the team didn’t hardly use him. Something was up, and now that something is showing up in the box score.

I was all set to be pissed at the bottom of the ninth pitcher...until I realized it was a position player.

Indeed, he hadn't pitched for over a week when he came in yesterday. I assumed he was hurt.

 Unless he was pulling a Gearrin, I don't see how those were hollow appearances. It seems strange that the Giants would keep him tucked away when other guys were blowing it on a regular basis. A couple of bad appearances don't cancel out a bunch of good ones. They just show he's human. I still think he is one of the best weapons they have in the bullpen. He should be the 3rd or 4th best, but that's a different subject about the bullpen overall.

The fact he was used as sparingly as he was is why I question how good he actually was.

Kinda like DRod. His general stats were good, but his peripherals where questionable and the FO never had any faith in him. Since he left us, he has basically been invisible.

Good game for us.
We had 14 hits they had 8.
We SO 13 times, they SO 12.
6 BB for to only 3 for them.
We LOB 20, they LOB 14.

Both teams used 5 pitchers and no one pitched more than 5 innings.
Their guy Hernandez had the longest stint pitching 4.1 innings.
It almost looks like they applied the same "Opener" strategy that we sometimes use until you realize their starter threw 4.1.
