Man, some people have no freakin clue...who in their right mind schedules a meeting from 2-4PM on a Friday afternoon???

Looks like I'm out for the rest of the day. Y'all keep up the chatter in here, we might break 3 pages by dinner time!

Well, in particular, Ryan Howard is a lot more movable now than he was then. The man would be very wise to stay hot.

Unless the Phillies are willing to throw $30MM or so in with Howard and not expect a single prospect in return, they're going to have a hard time finding a sucker to take him.

He's still got $51.5MM guaranteed coming to him for the rest of '15 and '16. That equates to $31MM per season ($51.5MM/1.7 seasons). Please excuse me for a moment while I laugh my balls off at Amaro Jr and all the Phillies fans who argued with me that it was a good deal in '10. Again.

Further, as hot as he is, he's just a DH who can't hit lefties - this year his slash line against LHP is
.212/.257/.364/.621. He's struggled horribly against lefties his whole career. Phillies fans used to shit themselves when I'd suggest they platoon him against LHP starters.

No I have already heard rumors the Red Sox are offering Trey Ball and Eduardo Rodriguez for Ryan Howard and Sean O'Sullivan.

I could see maybe the Red Sox taking Howard off the Phillies hands if they package him with Hamels. Same goes for the Yanks. Those two could both use Hamels and have the cash to absorb Howard's contract.

Why take Howard if you are the Yankees? Tex is at first and playing the best he has played in three years. The DH spot will be clogged up by ARod for the next three years until his contract ends. Where would you put Howard?

If I was the Yankees, I'd take Howard because my starting rotation is averaging less than 6 innings per start with a below-average ERA and I'd be in a very winnable division.

Where would I put him? One of three places:

  1. I'd try to get anything I could for him in a trade, agreeing to eat some of his contract,
  2. Buffalo
  3. Designate for assignment

I think Howard would easily clear waivers given his contract.

Little snag in my plan. On 5/2/15, Howard qualified for 10/5 rights and has full no-trade protection, so he'd have to agree to any trade. Complicates things.

Ryan Howard to stl seems possible. I just don't like the knee jerk reaction trade at this point
