I've heard this from other Red Sox fans as well. That was the year that he was the worst starting pitcher in the majors.

I looked some things up. It was 2011. That was the fried chicken and beer season. It's crazy how a few years can soften the drama - on August 31st, they had the best record in the AL and led the East by 1.5 games. 7-20 in September finished them 3rd in the east and out of the playoffs. That's crazy shit.

I didn't think I understood why he would keep going out and shitting the bed or why the team would let him, but they were in the hunt until the end and as shitty as he was, the team still won 50% of his starts.

yup

he manned up that year. made 28 starts on string cheese ligaments in his arm. i never wanted lackey here...when the rumors of him coming here started, i literally said at the time "if his plane gets shot down near logan, you can tell the feds i did it".
