Quite frankly, I know this doesn't mean much now, but I'll be very surprised if we miss the playoffs again next season.

Too much talent and a lot of familiarity/experience with many of the players, plus a rather young, energetic group of guys.
I was super surprised we missed this season so if we dont make it next season i will be a mess

We were a playoff team this season, by all accounts, but we straight-up blew it. I think the whole organization feels that way.

History has shown that any team capable of winning 10 straight games is a playoff team. That tells me we fucking choked it away. It has everything to do with slow starts, playing down to competition and not being ready to play after long breaks. Really that's a lack of professionalism. It's quite astonishing to see from a group of regulars that are still mostly young or in their prime, but also veteran players.

All of these problems you listed have been happening since this core group has been together.

Well, I'm not sure if that's fair. I think every team has these issues to some extent, that's the parity of the league, but it was a glaring one this season for us in particular.

It's really not fair to us as fans.

We watched our team finish 26-12-7 last season, then take the Caps to six games without Couturier. Then they win 10 straight games this season in November/December only to miss the playoffs completely. It's not like we had a lot of critical injuries this season either. There were no real excuses. It's a massive cocktease.

Probably true, but mostly he just shrinks on the big stage or when he's being pressured by another goalie for the starting spot.

Here are some very intriguing numbers:

The lifetime regular season stats (close to 700 combined games) for Neuvy and Mase are identical. They both have a 2.68 GAA and .911 SV%.

In the postseason, Mase has a 3.37 GAA and .895 SV%. Neuvy has a 1.92 GAA and .933 SV%.

To me, that combined with how much they were going to cost us led us to sign Neuvy and let Mase go.

We can't have shrinkage on the big stage it makes the rest of look bad!

That said, they will probably just fire Bylsma if that's what Eichel wants. He's literally that important and valuable of a player...Lol
